Second Grade Stewards

Maddie and Ellarose, second graders, have adopted our preschool as the beneficiary of their gift of service. During the summer, these entrepreneurs set up a Lemonade Stand and raised $49.38, also raising $69 the previous summer. They presented their donation to Mrs. Igou, preschool director, at Morning Assembly, and will select items for the preschool with Mrs. Igou in the near future. We are so proud of these Guardian stewards!

Theme for the School Year - Shaped to Serve

The theme for this school year is Shaped to Serve – “Lord, you are our Father, we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are the work of your hand.” Isaiah 64:8. The image of the potter and clay reminds us that we are being shaped by God through our life experiences and it instills in us a spirit of hope and faith that in times of celebration and challenge, God is in our midst. As Catholics, we recognize Jesus in all people we meet, and are called to serve each other in a spirit of love.

Guardian Scientist First in State!

Congratulations to seventh grader, S.V, who recently placed first in her category (Engineering, Energy & Transport) at the California State Science Fair in Los Angeles. Her project titled, “Which 3D Printed Wheel Could Operate Most Efficiently on Mars?” has already received additional awards from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, Society of American Military Engineers, Society of Women Engineers (San Diego County Section) and the US Naval Science Awards Program. We are so proud of this amazing Guardian scientist!

Guardian Girls JV Basketball Team Wins Championship!

On May 17, 2017, the St. Gregory the Great girls won the JV Basketball Championship for the Catholic Sports League of San Diego. The Guardians finished the regular season 6-1, and avenged their only loss by defeating Good Shepherd 19-9 in the championship game. Thank you to their great coaches who inspired both skill and teamwork in his wonderful group of young ladies.

Solar Power Comes to St. Gregory

In fulfillment of our mission to be good stewards of ecology, solar panels have been installed on the roof of the Library Media Center. Additionally, carports with solar panels have been erected in our parking lot.

Artist & Author Fair - A Celebration of Creativity

A wide variety of amazing student artwork and writings will be displayed in the Library Media Center on May 11 and 12. A treat is in store for all who visit this fantastic showcase. Thank you Arts Attack parent volunteers for all you have done this year to inspire and support students in expressing their creativity.

St. Gregory the Great students attended the Elementary School Leadership Conference at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace

The purpose of this yearly event is to explore the dynamics of peer leadership, teamwork and cultivate the general qualities necessary for successful leadership. The conference is conducted by the Council of 10 at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace, along with outstanding student leaders from both the Academy of Our Lady of Peace and Saint Augustine High School. They are looking forward to putting new leadership skills into action in service of our Student Body. Guardian Pride!
