Heals for Healing 5K Family Walk - A Great Success!

Over 120 students, teachers, and families gathered at Crown Point Park in Mission Bay on April 15 to participate in a 5K Family Walk. The purpose of this event, organized by teachers, Mrs. Dyroff and Miss Griffin, was to promote school safety and send funds to support the healing process at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School.

Eighth Graders Win San Diego Bar Association Law Week Poster Contest

The San Diego County Bar Association holds an annual Law Week event that involves school children and generates excitement toward the justice system. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible to participate in the Poster/ Video Contest. This year’s theme was “What Does Equality and Justice for All Mean to Students?”. This year St. Gregory the Great Catholic School students, Nicole Standifer and Mary Ackerman, placed first and second respectively in the poster competition. Students at St. Gregory have placed in the top three consistently in the past three years. Congratulations to these wonderful young ladies!

Rosary for Peace

Students and staff at St. Gregory the Great Catholic School prayed a Rosary for Peace on March 14 in remembrance of the victims of violence at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. The Luminous Mysteries reminded us to be the Light of Christ and advocates for peace on our world.

Academic Decathlon Success!

Our warmest congratulations go to this wonderful group of Guardians who placed fourth overall in this Diocesan Academic Decathlon competition. While every member of the team was integral to its success, several students were among the top placements in the San Diego Diocese: Lael Czerniak (8) 1st in English and 4th in Writing; Patrick O’Leary (7), 1st in Mathematics; Isabella Barba (8), 2nd in Literature; Nicole Standifer (8) 6th in Religion. School Library Makeover

Due to the recent opening of the Resource Center, and Staff Lounge, our library has been expanded to the fullest extent of the space. A recent "makeover" includes a reading tent, primary reading area, and several scoop rockers where students can relax and enjoy a good book. Reading is so much fun at St. Gregory the Great Catholic School!

Our Favorite Book Characters

We celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss by dressing as our favorite book characters on March 2. Student enjoyed sharing their favorite books and many participated in Read Across America. We are grateful to our many parent volunteers who participated by reading to the children.
